I'd considered some kind of covering, but the time and expense were just too daunting. As for hawks, I haven't had any trouble since I got my big Buff Orp rooster, Maurice. Mine is roughly 16 x 20 and I just covered it with chicken wire. So even if a fox went over the fence, he'd just find himself on top and not in. Also keep the hawks at bay - I've lost more than one rabbit to those guys.<br /><br />I did lose all the eggs from the nest of a broody hen a few weeks ago to a large chicken snake.
